General course information
This course will cover two topics: Optimization which will be overseen by Lu and Mohammad, and Quantum Foundations which will be overseen by John. The first lecture on May 29 will be an introduction to each subject by the instructors and the remaining lectures will consist of presentations by student pairs.
The course sessions will be held every Wednesday (excpet the week of June 17th) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm Mountain Daylight Time [Schedule] and will be conducted in a hybrid format, with both in-person attendance at PAIS room 2540 and virtual attendance using Zoom [passcode: CQuIC@UNM]
Course prerequisites
The optimization part of the course assumes basic knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and topology.
The foundations portion of the course assumes basic knowledge of quantum mechanics.
Assignments
Participants are required to read the materials assigned for each session in advance, and to participate in the group discussions during each session. Additionally, for optimization, a small number of exercises will be given for each lecture, and we strongly encourage participants to work through these exercises.
