Course prerequisites

This course assumes familiarity with quantum mechanics at the level of Physics 521-522.

Assignments

Participants are required to read the materials assigned for each session in advance, and to participate in the group discussions during each session. Additionally, participants should be willing to present the assigned material.

Teach-Along-Tract: In parallel with the sessions, students are encouraged to work with Tzula to experiment with science of learning tools in their lectures. Emphasis will be on promoting metacognition (guides-sub-pages/metacognition/) and utilizing classroom activities (classroom-activities-from-the-science-literacy-program), as well as helping presenters’ access their creativity and feel empowered to develop their own teaching tools and techniques!

General course information

This 11-week course offers a comprehensive exploration of topics related to quantum internet and quantum parameter estimation. The first half of the course (sessions 1-6) will focus on the fundamental principles necessary to understand the development of quantum internet technology, including distributed quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and quantum key distribution. The second half of the course (sessions 7-11) will delve into topics related to quantum parameter estimation theory from the mathematical foundations to the applications, including quatum sensing and quantum metrology.

The course sessions will be held every Wednesday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm Mountain Daylight Time and will be conducted in a hybrid format, with both in-person attendance at PAIS room 2540 and virtual attendance using Zoom:
